Castles & Catapults

Castles & Catapults is a game strategy developed by Magic Lantern, Inc. and published by Infogrames, Inc.. Originally released in United States in 2003. Currently you can download and play the game for Windows.

The time is the late 13th century. Your father has died and you have taken on the responsibility of commanding an army, fending off the enemy and expanding your territory. Under your command - when you can afford it - are spearmen, swordsmen and archers. If you survive, pitchforks, cannons and even wizards and dragons. Then you can really start doing damage.

The mechanics of Castles & Catapults are like a little board game come to life. You and your opponents (real or artificial) take turns buying tokens representing armies, siege engines, castles and healing. As in the rest of the game, you have a limited time to make your decisions. You also draw from the same random pool of tiles, so you can wait to see what your opponent takes, or you may wish you had taken the archer at the first opportunity.

You then place the tiles you have bought to organize your troops into smaller armies or to expand your castle. But once the battle begins, your troops, represented in 3D graphics, will move and attack at your command. As your army grows, you can even lay siege to your opponent's castle. If you are a bad commander, you will defend your castle to the last man.
