Cossacks European Wars is a real-time strategy (RTS) wargame based on the 17th and 18th centuries. Emphasis is placed on historical accuracy, and the game is accompanied by an excellent manual and a manual on disk.
Using a fixed isometric view, cities and fortresses are built and troops and cavalry are deployed in the usual manner of real-time strategy games. There is resource management in the form of timber cutting, fishing and mining.
Although titled Cossacks... the game allows you to play under the flag of a wide range of European nations. Each has its own building designs, separate troops, and specialized weapons and troops.
Naval battles are included, as well as invasions via ships crossing oceans and large rivers.
There is a method of grouping and controlling your troops in the fixed formations common to the era depicted. Up to 8,000 individual units can be active on screen, so the scale of battles is immense.
It supports single player, fixed campaigns, random maps and multiplayer.
