Description X-Plane 6
X-Plane 6 is a flight simulator based on blade element theory. It provides real-time flight simulation using real-world weather information, aircraft system performance and failures, accurate terrain data, and real-world navigation equipment (over 25,600) and airports (over 21,000). The game includes tools for designing and modifying aircraft, navigation aids and scenery. It also features a wide variety of aircraft models, such as the Boeing 747, the Piper Malibu, the F-22 Raptor, the Cessna 172, the Bell 206, the X-15 and the Space Shuttle.
The main differences between this version and the previous one are as follows
Increase of the minimum resolution to 1024x768.
New scenery format with 5 times more elevation points.
Auto-generated buildings.
New texture format and a new aircraft format with much greater instrumentation flexibility. Significantly improved default instrumentation.
Round world terrain model eliminates traditional distortions and errors.
Significant terrain upgrades: improved accuracy of U. S. terrain, land use data, all new terrain data, and new terrain model. Land use data, land use data, all new terrain textures, roads, rivers, power lines, etc.
Custom landscape folders.
The game uses the so-called leaf element theory (19th century) to calculate aircraft behavior. In essence, this theory considers each surface as a wing and calculates the forces acting on it to obtain its speed. Thus, the maneuvering and behavior of an aircraft is governed by its shape, weight, center of gravity (CG), drag and thrust. Other flight simulators opt to use tables for aircraft performance. The advantage of this approach is that simulations can be performed on less powerful computers. By changing the density and gravity coefficients, it is possible to fly in different atmospheres. Mars, for example.
Plug-ins further enhance this simulator, allowing, for example, real-time online flight, flight planning and control. The game can output data that can be fed to motion platforms, displays, navigation systems, home cockpits, and so on. It can also receive data from external sources such as RC flight controllers, Garmin GPS systems and proprietary flight models. It can output up to 5 monitors with different viewing angles (LAN/Internet transmission is also possible).
